about
The band's favourite song on the album, unanimously...
The Sleeping Shaman review on the album likened listening to this song with trying to cross a river with rocks tied to your feet. A negative comment by all means, but something we are proud of because it was the intention all along.
As with all our music, every choice made in the writing process is done so to serve a purpose. CP, in its design, is intended to just not let up, other than over the slow solo piece before the last chorus. It guides the intention behind the lyrics.
Some nice detail on this one to discover on repeat listens...
lyrics
Gloves innocuous
Fists unfold
Another pugilist
Heart of gold
I'm a lover man
In the ring
I'm a mother man
Hear me sing
I fought the government
I fought the law
I fought the dawn of man
With my south paw
(They don't care about you)
Bias populace
Taint of old
Had enough of this
Conscience sold
I'm a lover man
In the ring
I'm a mother man
Hear me sing
I fought the government
I fought the law
I fought the dawn of man
With my south paw
(They don't care about you)
I fought the government
I fought the law
I fought the dawn of man
With my south paw
(They don't care about you)

For some reason, what I previewed and the real songs was somewhat different - maybe because of the cover art?
But I definitely don't regret something more spacial than expected. The recent Ocean drifting in space. frankwurst
Combining crooned murder ballads with raw, angsty hard rock hooks, Melbourne's The Ugly Kings are a wrecking crew well worth watching. Bandcamp New & Notable Sep 15, 2021
Roaring space rock from this London group, with every instrument turned up to 10, and all of the songs reaching stunning crescendos. Bandcamp New & Notable Nov 9, 2019

It's only four tracks, yes, but it's four tracks of great cosmic psychedelia.
