about
Red Dawn is just a whole lotta fun... Lyrically, it is quite a serious song though.
The album was written in drop D. We have since dropped lower but we'll discuss that on the next release ssshhhh
In order to achieve the octave drop after the solo Keenan tuned the A string UP to B, so the whole song is played in DBDGBE. So straight after the solo, Keenan just engages an octave pedal to take the now B string down a full octave to achieve the low B. Jarryd plays a five string bass guitar here in order to keep up.
This is another one that translates well live and we like to take the ending waaaayyy further than it needs to go haha as it is currently a set list closer.
lyrics
Pain and fever
Non-believer
Patient bleeder
Generation
Planned creation
Wasted nation
Blood and sand, god be damned
This gift is a curse
Understand, she is the land
The mother, the nurse
Social seer
Rested fear
Future clear
Abhor ration
Mansplanation
Crucifixion
Blood and sand, god be damned
This gift is a curse
Understand, she is the land
The mother, the nurse
All hail, the red dawn
All hail
All hail, the red dawn
All hail
For some reason, what I previewed and the real songs was somewhat different - maybe because of the cover art?
But I definitely don't regret something more spacial than expected. The recent Ocean drifting in space. frankwurst
Combining crooned murder ballads with raw, angsty hard rock hooks, Melbourne's The Ugly Kings are a wrecking crew well worth watching. Bandcamp New & Notable Sep 15, 2021
Roaring space rock from this London group, with every instrument turned up to 10, and all of the songs reaching stunning crescendos. Bandcamp New & Notable Nov 9, 2019
It's only four tracks, yes, but it's four tracks of great cosmic psychedelia.
